Vacation in Maine

Emily's parents rented a house on the coast in Rockland, Maine as a Christmas gift to the family. The plane trip up there was an adventure (as it always is with a 1 year old), but we were thankful that we did not have to make the long drive. It was unseasonably warm for Maine (77 daytime highs), but the house had a pool, so the kids made good use of it. We all enjoyed several morning and evening walks on the boardwalk to downtown Rockland. We all went sailing on a schooner one afternoon in the Camden harbor. Emily & Joe drove 2 hours to Acadia National Park one day for some great hiking and sightseeing. Emily, Joe & Jackson went sea kayaking in the Rockland harbor one morning. We saw the wooden boat races at the Breakwater, and we went to see three light houses. It was a relaxing week with a much slower than normal pace. As soon as we got back to the hot weather in Charlotte, Ivey wanted to go back to Maine (and we did too). It was a great trip.
