Look Who's Walking!

Ivey took her first steps on April 1. She now takes 8 to 10 steps, falls, stands up and goes again. She also loves to hold one of our hands so she can walk fast and lead us where she wants to go. She is really into walking up and down the stairs. The front porch stairs are her favorite ones. She loves to be outside and cries when we come inside.

She is loving her new class at school and they love her as well (of course). She has learned some moves to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star which I discovered while singing her to sleep for a nap. Oops. Too cute. Will need to get a video of that. It has now become a great diaper distraction as she proudly starts waving her hands when I sing it!

She got a new big girl carseat and of course wanted to play in the old

Our little AppState Fan!

She spent a whole weekend alone with her Daddy last weekend while I attended a women's church retreat in the mountains. They went to Discovery Place Kids for several hours, took lots of walks and went out to eat several times. Looks like they had fun!!

One of Ivey's newest things is to sit on short ledges/places only she will fit - bookcase, tv cabinet, shower door ledge, one of the steps, under her table, under the vanity cabinet, etc. She is quite upset that I will not let her sit in the fridge.

Ivey got her first haircut on Friday. It was getting very straggly. She cut the back even with the hair at her ears. Very cute.

Easter Memories

Ivey's 2nd Easter was lots of fun! We went to church first and then showed her the Easter basket once we got home. She napped in the car on the way to Gramma & Grandad's. She ate lunch while we waited for her cousins to arrive. Then she crawled under the table while everyone else ate lunch. We had a Easter Egg Hunt for the kids and then one for the big kids - Joe won that one, as expected. Ivey sat on her princess towel so she would not have to touch the grass. Maybe next year she won't mind walking on the grass and she can actually participate in the Easter Egg Hunt!

What a Week!

We have all had our share of doctor visits for the year this week. Ivey had gook coming out of both eyes last weekend so we went to the doctor Sunday morning and found out she had an ear infection in each ear. Joe had to keep the nusery by himself since we were at the doctor and claims one of the children got him sick - so sick in fact that he stayed home from work on Monday. Ivey had a rough day on Monday including the wee hours of Monday. She wasn't acting like she wasn't feeling well at all until she started taking medicine so it must have made her tummy hurt. Nothing could satisfy her - countless tears were shed. We all went back to school and work on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday afternoon Ivey's teacher told me to keep an eye on her puffy left eye as pink eye had been going around. She woke up with a fever Thursday morning and the same little puffy eye, but still not pink or red and no gook leaking out. The nurse informed me that it was probably just allergies and to try giving her benadryl. Didn't seem to do much except make her take a 4 hour nap. Joe went to the doctor Thursday for antibiotics and my eyes were itching all day which I was hoping was just allergies. Friday, I woke up with both eyes glued shut from gook and was diagnosed with pink eye in both eyes. Ivey woke up with the same fever and a little gook in her eyelashes. Joe work up feeling worse and stayed home from work again. I took Ivey back to the doctor to get drops for what I decided must be pink eye and he said her ears were not getting better. We switched antibiotics and two days later she is still running a fever and crabby as ever. I'm thinking we'll be back at the doctor tomorrow morning to check on the ears again. We are all ready for our Ivey back!!

Miss Independent

Ivey loves the outdoors as long as she doesn't have to touch the grass. She is always pointing at the door wanting to go outside. She loves to walk behind anything she can push - a chair, a toy, the vaccuum. She is becoming quite independent. She seems to be getting frustrated that she can't walk yet. She stands up from a sitting position on the floor and then falls down hard on her bottom and screams in frustration and trys again.

I walked into the kitchen after hearing silverware clanging to find this - she opened the dishwasher herself

She has decided it's fun to pull things out of her dirty clothes hamper and drag them around the house

I'm ready to go outside now

Not sure why she thought this was a good place to sit

I love to "vaccuum"

Busy, Busy Ivey

Ivey is one busy little girl! Some of her favorite activities include climbing the stairs, climbing under the tables and chairs, rolling around on Mommy and Daddy's bed, splashing in the bathtub, dancing to music, brushing her teeth and of course she still loves to eat. More than once she has helped herself to a snack she's found within her reach. She has also become quite the pointer and points at everything she's interested in including the lights, ceiling fans, light switches, preferred snack, etc. She loves to go places and enjoys all the attention she gets. She likes to laugh and will laugh when she hears other people laughing including complete strangers. She is still laid back and easy going most of the time, but she does have her moments when she wants what she wants.

One week she greeted me like this every morning.
