Look who's walking

Julia was very hesitant to walk and we really coached her to take her first few steps, but once she got comfortable with it, she took off! She started walking July 20, 2014.

More July Travels

We've had a busy travel filled July with trips to Maine, Asheville and Charleston. Holly, Margaret & Anne picked Ivey up on their way home to Charleston after a visit to see Granpa in High Point. She had so much fun playing with her cousins at the beach.

Ivey is much better at sharing food than toys with her sister

Summer Time Fun

The front porch and front yard have become our playground this summer. The girls love to play in their cars on the porch and swing on the new swing in the front yard. Ivey is taking soccer lessons at school one morning a week now. Joe found her a pink soccer ball to play and practice at home.

Ivey made "cupcakes" out of her wheat thins and cheerios on the morning of Julia's birthday - she pretended to light them and sang happy birthday to her at least six times

That was yummy spaghetti

Vacation in Maine

Emily's parents rented a house on the coast in Rockland, Maine as a Christmas gift to the family. The plane trip up there was an adventure (as it always is with a 1 year old), but we were thankful that we did not have to make the long drive. It was unseasonably warm for Maine (77 daytime highs), but the house had a pool, so the kids made good use of it. We all enjoyed several morning and evening walks on the boardwalk to downtown Rockland. We all went sailing on a schooner one afternoon in the Camden harbor. Emily & Joe drove 2 hours to Acadia National Park one day for some great hiking and sightseeing. Emily, Joe & Jackson went sea kayaking in the Rockland harbor one morning. We saw the wooden boat races at the Breakwater, and we went to see three light houses. It was a relaxing week with a much slower than normal pace. As soon as we got back to the hot weather in Charlotte, Ivey wanted to go back to Maine (and we did too). It was a great trip.
